High Altitude Mountain Workers Welfare Association (HAMWWA)

- HAMWWA members serve volunteer rescue from Pumori Camp 1 (5800m) on 12 May 2010.
Kaji Sherpa of Sete, Solukhumbu, who was with Pumori Expedition from Extreme Adventure (P) Ltd.
On 11 May, he was on the way to camp-2 from camp one. During his climbing the rock fall down from Pumori camp-2 and the rock break the fix rope where he was hanging to move ahead. After the rope cut, he suddenly fall down about 200m. He was not viewed anymore but somehow he was able to hang with help of crampons. His another mate sherpa able to find him and bring to Camp 1 and give pain killer. Two of Finnish climber come down to everest basecamp and 8pm and ask to help for rescue.
Next day early morning, secretary of HAMWWA Gokul Thapa went early morning at 6 to Pumori camp and check the situation of injured person and contact with HAMWWA president in everest basecamp. With the guidence of HAMWWA president, 12 HAMWWA rescue supporter and other climbing sherpa team move towards to help Kaji Sherpa to rescue.
11 am rescue team arrived in Pumori camp 1 and, the volunteer resuce team prepare rescue effort and bring him down to Pumori Basecamp at 2pm. Finally, with efforts of volunteers we able to make helipad and success to evacuate.
HAMWWA members volunteerly rescued one sherpa and save his life.
